OUR DIRECTORS
Paul and Rob began their careers mastering the craft of carpentry before moving into the management of residential and commercial projects with leading construction firms, including, LBA Construction Group, Hickory Group and BPM. After meeting on site in 2010, they discovered a shared passion for luxury residential architecture and a mutual ambition to deliver projects through a more considered, end-to-end approach.
Format Group was founded in 2015. Since then, the business has grown into one of Melbourne’s most respected luxury home builders, recognised for delivering exceptional, design-led homes from concept through to completion. The name ‘Format’ reflects the group’s distinctive approach to the residential sector — underpinned by the rigour and standards of commercial construction, with a strong focus on materiality, efficiency and transparency.
Their expertise in building refined, architecturally ambitious homes has led to collaborations with leading design practices including Hayball, Edition Office, Wolveridge Architects, B.E Architecture, Neil Architecture, Inglis Architects and Studio Bright in recent years.
After years working across Australia and overseas, Paul now resides on the Mornington Peninsula, where he enjoys an active family life with a deep connection to the coast. Rob also spent his formative professional years abroad, delivering projects across London’s most prestigious suburbs with some of the UK’s most sought-after builders. Now based in Melbourne’s inner east with his young family, he balances his passion for construction with an active lifestyle, a love of travel & the great outdoors.
